Sheka farm is a pristine indigenous forest providing habitat for wildlife and perfect growing conditions for coffee. The farm itself is 200 hectares.
A river runs around the coffee farm and is the source of water for processing all the coffees here while coffee trees grow under the shade of the natural, indigenous forest. In addition, Heleanna has implemented a natural filtration system consisting of vetiver grasses and false banana trees which removes sugars and other byproducts from the water before it flows back into the river. The coffee cherry husks, pulp and mucilage are also converted to compost, which is used in supporting the growth of the coffee trees, young coffee plants in their nursery, as well as turmeric and black pepper. In their Sheka farm, Moplaco also keeps bees for pollination and honey production.
During harvest, the ripe cherries are delivered to Kawo Kamina washing station. The coffee is hulled and then washed / fermented until all muscilage is removed from the beans. The coffee is then dried on raised beds until the correct moisture content is reached.
