Kainamui washing station processes coffees supplied from surrounding smallholder farmers. Around 1800 farmers supply the washing station with cherries.
The Ngariama Farmers Cooperative society is responsible for the running of Kainamui washing station and is known to give premiums to farmers as well as supporting tuition fees and farming expenses.
Processing:
Cherries are sorted before being depulped, fermented for 16-24 hours and graded. After this the coffee is dried on raised beds for 7-15 days.
